A new survey, commissioned by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) survey, has revealed contactless cards are fast replacing cash in face to face transactions. Indeed , the new ‘tap and go’ cards are also replacing traditional card transactions at many merchants, according to the RBA. The banks survey, which covered a representative sample of 1,150 Australians, showed that two-thirds of respondents had a contactless card, and almost half had used it in the week of the survey.
